Yes, for sure. I suppose one can only write about what actually occurs, but I found the subject matter to be light on persuasive power. I still maintain that lay-person's view of evolution as being the species emergence rather than the definition of allele changes in a population through generations. Of course, as you said, "species" is hotly debated itself, with many differing definitions and scope. But, my view of evolution makes me want something more meaty when it comes to evidence. My last class on evo biology didn't even discuss documented speciation events in the lab and to me that is the most concrete evidence for "macroevolution" that we have. In the future I would like to do some further studies on Drosophila to not only isolate them reproductively from a parental population, but drastically change their appearance via artificial selection. Who know what scientific impact that will have, but the debate in the public realm isn't about science anymore is it? It's now about public relations and simple evidence that can be understood by the general populace who are unwilling to delve into the subject in any meaningful way. As much as the scientific community is separated by terminology and education barriers from the general public, I think it is very important to demonstrate these complex ideas in ways that can be explained simply and have persuasive impact.

I read the article and there's no mention or knowledge of what is in the actual suit beyond vague words about license, copyright and tradement infringement, so we don't know on what basis Apple is suing Psystar yet. It could well be the EULA amongst other things.
