Google web search IS the content that drives traffic there yet they don't allow the same thing on Lively.

It will also eat up lots of battery life. That's probably the biggest reason they aren't offering it. It's not just a full GPS, it's A-GPS and does rely on some tower triangulation in addition to the GPS receiver in the phone. It's not great, but it's probably as good as other cell phones. I don't think you'd really want it to do full live tracking as it could kill the battery pretty quickly with all the tower and satellite polling it would be doing. I think it might be possible to come up with an app that did pretty close to live tracking and was able to give turn-by-turn directions with auto-reroute, but it's probably something you'd only want to use in your car with the phone plugged into the power outlet.
