I would suggest not smoking weed if you don't enjoy it, but my guess is that you've associated smoking weed with loss of control over yourself with respect to the people around you. To help, you might try either becoming accustomed to its effects when you're by yourself before trying it in social situations, or only smoking with people with whom you've developed strong social bonds, that you feel would survive any potential humiliation you might bring upon yourself under the influence (or just being comfortable enough in your identity to not worry so much about how you might be perceived on weed).
