10% sounds like a little if you know jack ***** about accounting. Walmart and costco make less than 8% profit margin. Wholesalers of food may make as little as 2% profit margin. The flip side of it is that all employees, multi-million dollar ceo salaries, and all operating expenses of the business go into that 90%. So really, oil companies make a killing. They can pay off billions to stock holders without claiming it as profit. That 10% is what they pay taxes on.

What about textbooks? They are not cheap who paid for them?

I think that the motivation behind the difference is that competitors would theoretically come up with the same invention given enough time, but another artist would never create the exact same song independently. Also, patents can give a company a monopoly, but an artist will never have a monopoly on music. That aside, I agree that the difference IS too much. (especially in this case where the testing phase is exceptionally long)
